I'm sure you can just guess what kind of birthday party Austin had....
FOOTBALL!

He was so excited about his football cake. I over heard him telling multiple friends at the party "Did you see my football cake? Come and see it!" That sure made staying up until 1:30 in the morning to get the cake baked worth it!
Everytime we asked Austin what he wanted for his birthday (or Christmas) he would say "A real football player- like Austin Collie". He even told this to Santa at the ward party. Santa pointed to Jeremy and said "there's a real football player". Austin looked all around and said "Where?"
So, not wanting to disappoint, and knowing the improbablity of getting Austin Collie to come to the birthday party, we started telling Austin about Tucker Lamb, Austin Collie's best friend on the BYU team. Tucker does play for BYU with Austin Collie, he's a freshman and is in our ward- a much easier, and more likely senerio for the birthday!
Austin was THRILLED when Tucker Lamb walked in- he couldn't believe he was finally getting to meet a REAL football player. It even made it better when Tucker gave him a football signed by the entire BYU football team- including Austin Collie! Tucker was a great sport and played catch with the boys, and even got tackled a few times!

I tried getting Austin to wear normal clothes to the birthday party. He fell apart. How was he going to play football with his jeans on? Jeremy convinced me that it wasn't worth it, and to let him wear what he wanted to his birthday. He was so happy to be able to wear his football clothes, and have his football make-up on (black lines under the eyes). Sometimes the fights not worth it.

I don't think that we have ever taken Austin to a movie. Jeremy decided for his actual birthday (on Monday) to take him on a daddy/son date. They went to see The Bolt. Austin LOVED it! He thought it was so much fun to got out just with Dad. We are sure lucky to have such a fun dad!
