Austin's First Skiing Trip

Austin LOVED his first skiing trip. Who knew that a two year old could ski??? Two weeks ago we went to Brian Head for our annual Dastrup Family goal setting weekend. We had a great time snowmobiling, skiing, swimming, and just being together. Austin's two year birthday was on the Saturday that we were down there, and we decided to try out skiing. Jeremy thought that he would just be able to pull him around a little on the skis. But after about five minutes of that Austin was ready for the slopes. He pointed to the lift and told us "right here, me go right here". So, Jeremy took him up. He did great! Jeremy started by holding him up and letting him ski between his legs, but by the second trip up the mountain Austin was skiing by himself for about 30 feet at a time between Jeremy and Shawn. This kid has no fear! I have a feeling that we are in for it!

Ho Ho Party

For the past month I've been asking Austin what kind of party he wanted to have for his birthday. I would suggest to him a fish party, as Nemo is his favorite, or a Cars party as he could be happy watching Cars every single day. His reply was the same every single time. "No, Ho Ho party". Translation: He wanted a santa party, and he wanted Santa to come to his party. Luckily my dad owns a Santa suit, and being the great "papee" he is, Santa came to Austin's birthday.

Josh and Alicia made a snowman with Austin before his birthday party.
He loves making snowmen. This is his third one this year!

Thanksgiving in Granby

We had a great Thanksgiving this year in Granby. Austin loved the snow...the little bit that we had. There wasn't quite enough to actually ride the snowmobiles much, but enough for the kids to ride on them while they were being trailored behide the truck while we looked for the snow. We ate Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Wilder's home in Buena Vista. The day turned out perfect.
The cousins- it's fun to see what good friends they have become!

Maddison and Makay- the girls just love holding Makay- they are so good with him!

Austin loved being able to play outside while the boys were shooting skeet

This is where Makay spent most of his weekend...I just couldn't get him out in that 10-20 degree weather!

Jeremy shooting skeet- he's got quite the shot!

What Boy Doesn't Love Building Forts?

Austin's favorite part of the day is when Jeremy gets home from work. He knows that is his time with his dad. So last night when Jeremy got home and had to leave 15 minutes later to go to scouts Austin was devistated! To get the crying to stop I had to think quick. I asked him if he wanted to build a fort and watch Cars from inside the fort. Luckily the crying stopped. Whoever knew that building forts took so much talent? I tried stacking pillows, moving our couches around, using chairs...I couldn't keep the sheets from falling. After about 20 minutes I had a lame excuse for a "fort" where Austin could lay under the sheet and if he didn't touch anything then it wouldn't collapse. This sufficed until Jeremy got home and he was able to take over and build a real fort with Austin. Let's just say he had alot more fun in Jeremy's fort then he did in mine!

My sweet little guys

This picture is from the morning of Makay's blessing. I was in the bathroom getting ready and I heard Austin tellingJeremy "Right here daddy. Baby right here". I came out of the bathroom to find Makay laying on Austin's chest. Every morning Austin layslike this on Jeremy as he's trying to wake up- I think that it's so precious that he wanted the baby to lay on his chest just like he lays on his dad.

Makay's Baby Blessing

This past sunday was Makay's baby blessing. It seems like special days like this never go "just right"- 30 minutes before Austin's blessing he through his first screaming fit. I couldn't get him to stop. I tried everything. I fed him again, even though I had just finished feeding him 30 minutes prior. I changed his diaper. I even searched his entire outfit for any pins that Grandma Trail could have possibly left in the outfit when she was sewing it- that was how hard he was screaming...nothing. Finally I decided we had to just take him to the church screaming. I went to put on his shoes- they didn't fit- I couldn't even sqeeze them in. I left the house in tears (the day did end up wonderful...but lets just say that it wasn't a perfect start!) This was completely opposite of the morning we had with Makay. Both boys slept wonderful on Saturday night, we woke up with an additional hour to get ready for church as it was day light savings, and Makay didn't make a peep- at least not a screaming peep- all day long. It really was a perfect day. Jeremy gave a beautiful blessing. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband and father for my boys! Below are some pictures of our day.

We loved having everyone here for the blessing! We are so grateful that Jeremy's parents, and Corey and Maria and their kids, Holly and Joe and their kids, and Grandpa Gus would all travel to come out here for this!

Makay was awake for the first 20 minutes, then slept

The Big Camp out

Jeremy and Austin attempted their first "Father-Son" camp out in the back yard. Austin was so excited to sleep in the tent. They got their tent all set up, had smores with toasted marshmellows on the BBQ, got all of their bedding put in the tent...and that's when it all fell apart! Austin wasn't quite ready to actually sleep in there. It scared him to death. It took us 30 minutes to get him calmed down, and he eventually fell asleep watching a baseball game on TV with his dad. So much for the big camp out...maybe next summer!
